Effective March 7, 2016

On January 14, 2016 The Tomah Public Library Board of Trustees enacted the following policy for overdue materials:

1. Patrons who have overdue materials will be mailed a notice when their items are 5 (five) days overdue.

2. Patrons who fail to return their materials 30 (thirty) days from the material's due date will be mailed a second overdue notice.  At this time, an attempt will be made to telephone the patron about the overdue materials.

The second overdue notice will inform the patron that they have 15 (fifteen) days to either return or pay for the overdue materials.  Items not returned within 15 (fifteen) days will be referred to the Tomah Police Department.

3. Materials not returned 30 (thirty days) from their due date will be placed in "lost" status.  Patrons who pay for missing materials will have 60 (sixty) days from that date to return the overdue material for a refund.

4. At the discretion of the Library Director, materials that are in high demand will be replaced when they are 2 (two) weeks overdue.  At that time, patrons will be charged the price of the material and NO refunds will be issued.

Internet:

The library has 12 computers for internet access.  Access is restricted to 2 hours/day and you must register with a librarian before using one.  Internet access will be limited to one hour if there is a waiting list.  A Tomah Library card is not necessary to use one of the computers.

If you are under the age of 18 and wish to use the computers, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign you up to be "NET OK".

Interlibrary Loan:

How do I request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

You can request an interlibrary loan (ILL) by filling out a request form at the library (ask a librarian for a form).  Filling out a form online.  You may also call us to place an ILL request.  All you need to provide is the name of the book, author, your name, and your library card number.  The more information, the easier it will be to find the book and get in touch with you.

How long can I keep the ILL?
It depends, unlike items from our library, the due date for ILLs is not fixed.  The due date is written on the front of the book.  You must return the item by that date.  Late fees for ILLs are $1.00 per day.

Can items be renewed?
Some interloan items can be renewed.  If you need to renew an item we need to know at least 5 days ahead of the due date so that we can contact the lending library.

How long does it take to get an ILL?
It depends on where the item is coming from.  It can take anywhere from one to six weeks.
